Santana [Vinyl]

Santana [Vinyl] Review

Santana [Vinyl] Overview

The self-titled 1969 debut by San Francisco ballroom favorite Santana singlehandedly brought Latin rock into the mainstream. Full of steamy, percolating Latin percussion and leader Carlos Santana's stinging, razor-sharp guitar work, Santana was released in August of that year, the same month as the group's legendary appearance at Woodstock.

Bearing the smash hits "Evil Ways" and "Jingo," Sundazed's exact vinyl replica of this all-time classic rock staple is sourced directly from the original Columbia masters.

Abraxas

Abraxas Review

Abraxas Overview

Released in 1970, Abraxas, Santana's second album, sees the band expanding its already wildly diverse Latin rock sound by adding deeper elements of blues and jazz to the sizzling mix. Abraxas is home to two more of the group's signature monster hits: the hypnotic, rhythmically hectic interpretations of Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va" and Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman."

Sundazed's exact vinyl replica of this calienté classic is sourced directly from the original Columbia masters.

Abraxas Specifications

Santana's 1970 follow-up to their Woodstock-propelled smash '69 debut found leader Carlos Santana further expanding his San Francisco group's already broad musical boundaries. To wit: two hit singles that emanated from opposite ends of the spectrum--"Black Magic Woman," originally written and recorded by English blues-rock guitarist Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac, and New York Latin percussionist/dance music king Tito Puente's infectious "Oye Como Va." Tying blues, rock, and salsa together in one pancultural package, Abraxas also featured such standout tracks as "Gypsy Queen" and "Singing Winds, Crying Beasts." The latter underscored the growing Eastern sensibilities of guitarist Santana. --Billy Altman

SANTANA (III)

SANTANA (III) Review

SANTANA (III) Overview

1971's Santana 3 is Santana's equivalent of the Beatles' sprawling and diverse White Album. As with that album, friction within the band caused a precipitous decrease in collaborative songwriting and a massive increase in wasted studio time during its recording. Also similarly, the final product lacks the cohesiveness of their previous efforts, but each song is a jewel. Its instrumental tracks--"Baktuka", "Jungle Strut" and "Toussaint L'Overture", which became a staple of all the band's subsequent live shows--helped to shift the record-buying public's interest from the primarily riff-based rock & roll of the late 60s to the jazz/rock fusion of the early 70s. Carlos Santana still regularly performs two of the other tracks: the slinky samba "Guajira" and "No One To Depend On"; the latter he repudiated when he finally turned his back on the fame and drugs which fractured his band during the recording of Santana 3 and came to embrace religion. Perhaps most importantly, the entire album is saturated by the best Latin rhythm section in popular music, as well as Carlos Santana's own uniquely intense guitar sound. --James Swift

Citizen Cope - Sideways Music Video Video Clips. Duration : 5.43 Mins.

To watch the HD version: www.youtube.com This is a music video I cut together using live in-store footage (Music Milennium in Portland, OR), some footage from his EPK and the actual song from his CD. This was done in an effort to work with Cope's company as a favor for them agreeing to let me use his single "Fame" from the same album in a film I directed a few years ago.

medicine of Betta Fish Diseases

The main calculate of the diseases of betta fish is internal pressure. The pressure can be a consequent of several distinct things. The most extensive disease is infection.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: "Maracyn 2" by Mardel is suggested. Maracyn-2 is a all-purpose antibiotic tablet which is utilized for popeye, fin and tail rot, gill ailment, dropsy, septicemia, secondary and inner infections. It is requisite that the medicine be absorbed within the beta fish to cure the infection. Quarterly water changes twice a week, in addition to higher temperatures may also aid the beta fight off the infection himself.

Anthology

Fungal infection

Fungal infections generally happen because of bad water conditions. They become visible as white fluffy growths on the beta fish's mouth, eyes, and fins and are very infectious.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: growth the temperature of the beta fish tank. Fungal infections are time and again an outcome of cooler water temperatures. Medicines along with Malachite green or Methylene blue are also useful. Malachite green is a totally secure and helpful cure in fresh and salt water on a wide collection of protozoan, crustacean, and other invertebrate parasites of fishes. Adding commonplace table salt (sodium chloride) to the water, one teaspoon per gallon can lend a hand in minimizing the medical time.

Ichthyophthirius multifilius (Ich)

Ich is a protozoan sycophant found on the majority of the freshwater fish. It emerges as small white dots or stains on the beta fish's fins and body, which may seem to be like white grains of sugar. Eruptions mostly happen when the water temperature drops less than 80 degrees F.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: Raise the water temperature to the mid to higher 80s degree F. Salt baths are very helpful against Ich. Adding common table salt (sodium chloride) to the water can lend a hand in reducing disease. Add one teaspoon per gallon as a pre-emptive measure. Medicines containing Malachite green or Methylene blue, continued at a time gap of 2 days are also helpful.

Velvet/Oodinium

It is an algae sycophant found on several freshwater fish. This ailment emerges as a yellow "velvety" covering on the beta fish's body. It may also become visible as golden or rust colored. It is habitually found in fish which are anxious due to chilling, shipping, water changes or bad water quality. Symptoms comprises of fast breathing and lethargy.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: Raised temperature and medicines like acriflavine, Methylene Blue or Jungle's "velvet guard" should help cure this parasite. Bowls or tanks should be drained and unsoiled. Dyes must not be used as they have mercury.

Fin Rot

Fin Rot is a bacterial disease and often happens to weaker beta fishes.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: application of antibiotics, anti-microbials, and measures containing these is the perfect cure of this disease. One such anthology is Mardel Maracyn 2. Maracyn-2 is an all-purpose antibiotic tablet used for popeye, fin and tail rot, gill ailment, dropsy, septicemia, secondary and inner infections. Changing the water, addition the temperature and adding a small whole of salt will often attain perfect results.

Dropsy

It is caused by an inner, bacterial contagion. It mostly shows itself as stuffed sides and overhanging scales on the beta fish. Again, the most potential calculate is bad water conditions.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: The application of Mardel's Tetracycline is suggested. Tetracycline is an all purpose antibiotic for sick fin and tail rot, popeye, gill ailment and dropsy. It is mainly beneficial against gram-negative pathogenic organisms.

Black Spot
It demonstrates small, black scraps on the body of the beta fish. It is time and again found in fish that are harassed due to shipping.

Betta Fish Care and Treatment: Adding common table salt (sodium chloride) to the water can lend a hand in minimizing the medical time. Adding one teaspoon per gallon is suggested.

Common Beta Fish Treatments

* Copper Sulfate is helpful as an clean for equipment, tanks and bowls.

* Formalin is helpful against Ich and parasites.

* Malachite Green is generally used to cure protozoan infections.

Beta fish are flexible but do not bear thermal swings splendidly. Betas are tropical fish and must be settled in tropical temperatures. Beta fish need habitual, twice-weekly water changes in gallon water containers, a combination of foods (not just dry pellets), and your transportation to remain healthy.

Most of the ailments or illnesses with tropical freshwater fish can be credited to their surrounding atmosphere.

Nearly all the time a rapid water change, the adding up of a bit of salt (unionized sea salt is the most excellent, about a level teaspoon per five gallons equivalent) will conclude anything which is sick them.

Top 20 Guitarists Of All Time - Guitar Players

It was a dark and rainy night. The courthouse clock struck midnight; a stray dog howled. It was all too gorgeous when the staff of Gear Vault convened for their semi-annual underground meeting with the confines of the beloved cinder block room they call their "office." Their agenda? To conclude the 20 most leading people in guitar.

1. Jimi Hendrix

Santana

Widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix pioneered the explosive possibilities of the galvanic guitar. Hendrix's innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Because he was unable to read or write music, it is nothing short of noteworthy that Jimi Hendrix's meteoric rise in the music took place in just four short years. His musical language continues to affect a host of contemporary musicians, from George Clinton to Miles Davis, and Steve Vai to Jonny Lang. Hendrix was the revolutionary guitar god, enuff said!

2. Edward Van Halen

Edward Van Halen once likened his guitar playing to "falling down the stairs and landing on my feet." Eddie's had thirteen albums' worth of such happy accidents and in the process has changed the way people play, hear and think about the galvanic guitar. With his unorthodox technique, dare-devil whammy bar antics and fearless experimentation, Van Halen revitalized heavy guitar after it had run its policy in the Seventies. Espousing an I-just-play-that's-all-I-do attitude and favoring basic gear like stock Marshalls. Peavey 5150s, homemade, slapped together guitars and simple, minimal stop box effects, Van Halen became guitar's most hero by becoming its unassuming anti-hero.

From the jaw-dropping gymnastics of Van Halen's "Eruption" to the eerie, tidal crescendos of "Catherdral" on Diver Down, through his 1984 chart-topping synth experiments and spirit of 5150 and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Eddie has remained innovative throughout his career. Never one to wait around for the electrician, Van Halen prefers building his own gear-and if it doesn't all the time look pretty, well, attractiveness is in the ear of beholder. By "Frankensteining" his first striped guitar from 0 worth of parts, Van Halen launched his quest for the elusive "brown sound-"big, warm and majestic"-and gave rock guitarists a new holy grail of tone to seek in the post-Jim-my page era. His single-pick up and volume control innovation changed the way guitars looked and sounded, popularized the previously obscure Kramer Guitars, and inspired the do-it-yourself guitar gear industry. Eddie's custom-designed Peavey amps and his with Sterling Ball on his Music Man guitars prove that Van Halen still believes the artist should keep creative input on his equipment.

As a player, Van Halen single-handedly-well, dual-handedly-introduced millions of rock players such enthralling techniques as two-handed tapping and harmonics. Before 1978, guitar just had to be loud and fast. Eddie's playing is also tasteful and all the time in context, a fact that distinguishes him from his legions of imitators. While he's unimpressed by the copycat syndrome, it cannot be denied that many players first picked up a guitar after Van Halen's dazzling licks. But none of them can fall down the stairs with such brilliance.

3. Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton has successfully reinvented himself dozens of times: Rave-Up King with the Yardbirds; Holy Father of the Anglo-blues with the Bluesbreakers; free-form improvisational genius with Cream; chameleon rises to every musical occasion.

By 1965 the 20-year-old Clapton was already a legend. He'd introduced the blues to the masses, interpreting and updating what had been a largely unknown form for the rock generation. Simultaneously, his lush, Les Paul-driven tone marked the absolute turning point in the history of rock, transforming what had been a good-time twang instrument into a car for profound expression.

Ultimately, the most enduring image of the great guitarist will be of Clapton the bluesman, standing on a angle of a stage and exposing his psychic wounds to the masses. It is interesting, though, that, while "bluesy" in feel, his most memorable songs-"Layla," "Tears In Heaven"-do not apply the blues structure.

While most of Clapton's contemporaries talk reunion and revival, he never retreats behind memories of his "good old days." His Unplugged album, which was enormously successful-both for him and acoustic guitar manufactures-included a radical remake of "Layla." Clapton is one artist who has learned how to grow up.

4. Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has spent very wee of his occupation playing six-string guitar. But as a bassist, he practically single-handedly made guitar players' jobs a whole lot easier.

When the Beatles first arrived on the scene, rarely was the bass even heard on most pop records; players seldom attempted whatever more adventurous than a root-fifth accompaniment. But McCartney, who not only played bass, but sang, enlivened the Beatles' material with dynamic, enthralling basslines on his renowned Hofner and, later, a Rickenbacker 4001. By the time the Beatles began work on Sergeant Pepper's, McCartney as pumping out bass melodies that carried entire songs, with the result that the Beatles' guitar parts often became sparser, more subtle. Within months-and to this day-bass players the world over were unshackled.

5. Pete Townshend

Before Pete Townshend came along, feedback was something guitarists shunned like halitosis. Pete turned it into one of rock guitar's most noteworthy sonic resources.

Soon after The Who debuted in 1964, Townshend became legendary for violently slamming his guitar into his Marshall stack (a form of amplification he was the first to use) and smashing his instrument to splinters at the end of each show. All of this had a profound affect on Jimi Hendrix (aka The Guitar God #1) and just about every other rocker who ever picked up a guitar. Pete's trademark "windmill" strum was honestly swiped from Keith Richards. But Townshend made it even bigger and more dramatic-which is what he and The Who did with just about everything they touched. Having mastered the art of the three-minute pop song, Townshend turned his attentiveness to 15-minute mini-operas and, with Tommy in 1969, the worlds first double album rock opera. Townshend's songwriting genius and theatrical flair tend to obscure the fact that he is also a fine guitarist, as capable of supple lyricism as he is of angry mayhem.

6. George Harrison

When George Harrison strummed his first chord while the Beatles' historic appearance on the Ed Sullivan show 44 years ago, he became the catalyst for the galvanic guitar's metamorphosis from stringed instruments to tool of teenage liberation. And, as the folks at Gretsch and Rickenbacker will easily attest, it didn't exactly hurt sales, either.

While Harrison has never been a virtuoso guitarist, he was an innovator-constantly pushing the limits of studio sounds and stylistic boundaries. In many ways, he also was the first contemporary session musician, his chops as diverse and far-reaching as Lennon and McCartney's songwriting. He could dish up great Scotty Moore-style rockabilly ("All My Loving"), heart-rendering gut-string lines ("And I lover") and sheer fuzz and fury ("Revolution")-always adding something memorable to the material. Later in his career, he industrialized an primary slide style that is more melodic than bluesy. Like the Beatles as a whole, Harrison never settled into a comfortable groove. He glided across the musical spectrum-from country and western to spaced-out psychedelia to plane and sweet slide-shattering conventions and then enthralling on.

7. Angus Young

Two decades after Angus Young first emerged Ac/Dc's axe-wielding dervish at age 14, the we Scottish Aussie remains one of the sturdiest bridges in the middle of young metal-ists and rock's blues roots. Although he did great work before and since, Young will all the time be best known for 1980's Back In Black, a blue-collar masterpiece which, with killer classics like "You Shook Me All Night Long," remains an all-purpose primer for riff writing and tight, scalar lead playing. Never mind the fact that the man does it all while spinning around like chinchilla on speed. Though he may be dwarfed by his signature oxblood Sg, Angus Young is a giant among men.

8. Jimmy Page

Arguably the most emulated guitarist in rock history, Jimmy Page is additionally assured a place in the music's pantheon of greats for his roles as a musical director, furnish and all-around guru of Led Zeppelin.

His Rampaging, blues-based work on anthems like "Whole Lotta Love," "Communication Breakdown" and "Rock And Roll" defines heavy metal. His real genius, however, was his ability to strengthen the parameters of the genre to contain elements of primary English folk, reggae, funk, rockabilly and Arabic classical music.

Page the guitarist has never been a facile as Edward Van Halen or Steve Via, but few players in rock history have been able to match his restless imagination or visionary approach to guitar orchestration. Either he was exploring the exotic joys of open tuning on tracks like "Kashmir" and "Black Mountain Side," pioneering the use if backwards echo on "You Shook Me," or coaxing other worldly sounds from his '58 Les Paul with a cello bow on "Dazed And Confused," Page consistently transcended the limitations of his instrument and the recording studio.

More than 30 years have passed since Page recorded the seminal Led Zepplin Iv, but the album's heavy imprint can still be detected in the work of such cutting edge bands as Jane's Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden, to name a few. Page, of course, remains active. His dense, mutli-layered work on the Coverdale/Page report demonstrated his refusal to rest his laurels.

9. Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain was the intense and unkempt grunge lord who brought Nirvana from obscurity to the top of the charts, was all the rage-literally. The king of the guitar anti-hero, he didn't play his Fender Jaguars but he mauled them in a chord-crunching fury. Inevitably, he smashed his guitars, littered stages around the world with his splintered victims.

Cobain was a guitar pioneer because he managed to fuse into one dynamic style the aggression of Seventies punk rock, the speed and simplicity of Eighties hardcore and the bottom-heavy crunch of Nineties metal-and done so without a trace of silliness or bombast to which all three genres are prone.

There's wee doubt that scores of new players have been inspired to plug in by the chugging chords of Cobain's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Segovia he wasn't. But Segovia never captured the angst of an entire generation with one burst of ungodly feedback.

10. David Gilmour

What makes David Gilmour truly noteworthy is his uncanny ability to marry two seemingly contradictory genres-progressive rock and blues. Perhaps the most dramatic example of this unusual union can be heard on one of Pink Floyd's biggest hits, "Money" (Dark Side Of The Moon). As the song begins, Gilmour gently builds a delicate network of spacious, effected guitars, only to topple them with a series of emotionally charged, vibrato-drenched solos, whose rich, shimmering tone and impeccable phrasing recall B.B. King, rather than King Crimson.

Gilmour is the rarest of rockers. Like Jimi Hendrix, he ahs the natural ability to balance the cerebral with the emotional, the technical with instinctual, while holding an eye on both the past and the future. It is this awesome juggling act that is the underground to Pink Floyd's persisting appeal.

11. Keith Richards

Keith Richards is the archetypal rock outlaw, the quintessential skinny English rock guitarist in a tight black suit. He's filled that role since the Rolling Stones first established themselves as the dark, risky alternative to the Beatles in 1963. With his deep love of the blues, Keef initiated a generation of white, middle-class kids into the wonders of Muddy Waters, howling' Wolf and Chuck Berry. His unique five-string, open-G tuning lies at the heart of such all-time power chord classics as "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Street Fighting Man." As a soloist, Keef has worked a few miracles; discover the icy, amphetamine mesmerism of his licks on "Sympathy For The Devil" and his buoyant bending on "Happy." And he is the author of the most-played riff in all rock: the tritone mating call of "Satisfaction." Much has been made of Richards' fondness of controlled substances, but his greatest drug is music; his knowledge of rock, blues and reggae is encyclopedic, his passion for them boundless. They have sustained him through imprisonment, addiction, tempestuous lines of his leathery face, the history of rock and roll is etched.

12. Eric Johnson

In a realm often dominated by ham-fisted machoismo, Eric Johnson stands apart as rock guitar's elegant poet laureate. He has managed to originate an primary style from such radically dissimilar sources as country chicken picking, Jimi Hendrix and jazzman Wes Montgomery. A legend long before he became famous, Johnson's seemingly endless, melodious lines and distinctive "violin" tone made it an absolute requirement for guitarists stopping near the Texan's hometown of Austin to attend his show there in the early/mid 1980s.

After turning down numerous offers to tour as a sideman, he rose to prominence in 1986 with his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated album, Tones. His follow-up, Ah Via Musicom, thrust the self-effacing innovator added into the spotlight, compliancy one Grammy-winning cut ("Cliffs Of Dover") and at last going gold. Combining passion and lyricism with what can only be described as an overwhelmingly determined vibe, Johnson's music is progressive without being academic, uplifting without stooping to sentimentality.

13. Buddy Guy

"Part of my calculate for forming Cream was I suddenly had this mad idea about being English Buddy Guy; my goal was to be Buddy Guy with a composing bass player... And to this day, when he's on I don't think whatever can touch him. He takes you away to somewhere wholly different." -Eric Clapton

"Buddy Guy is as close as you can come to the hear of the blues." -Jeff Beck

"He plays one note and you forget about the rent." -Carlos Santana

"Nobody can get out of tune as cool as Buddy Guy." Stevie Ray Vaughan

14. Yngwie Malmsteen

Two schools of concept have sprung over the years about Yngwie J. Malmsteen. On the one hand, the Swedish native's incredibly precise, rapid-fire playing has earned him as a profound and great artist, the founder and most leading exponent of neo-classical guitar. From the point of view of this school, the facile blend of raw spead, finesse and passion that has characterized Malmsteen's style since his 1984 solo debut, Rising Force, represents the pinnacle of fretboard achievement. Yngwie is also credited with popularizing the scalloped guitar neck.

But Yngwie is also scorned by many in the guitar community, who loathe him with an intensity that matches the ardor of his most dedicated boosters. To group, Malmsteen was the architect of cold, empty guitar style, which emphasized technique over art, speed over feel. They rejoice over the apparent demise of neo-classicism. And how do you plead-for Yngwie or against?

15. Dimebag Darrell

This authentic, crimson-bearded lone star madman had rewritten the book on heavy metal riffing in the short space by many major-label releases. By combining the virtuosity of Edward Van Halen with the rhythmic drive of a glue-sniffing punk rocker, the legend Pantera guitarist had created a highly individual sound that that appeals to superior rockers, fans of death metal and industrial headbangers. On Pantera's March 15, 1994 release, Far Beyond Driven, Darrell solidified his reputation as one of metal's true originals on tracks like "Good Friends And A Bottle Of Pills," which combines hell-and-damnation riffing with the kind of abrasive avant-garde noodling that put Sonic Youth on the map.

16. John Petrucci

Known with Dream Theater, John Petrucci is proud to be progressive. "Our style is wholly dissimilar from grunge and alternative music," says the 41-year-old Berklee-trained musician. "But I think our music has as much attitude as any of those bands."

Dream Theater is known for a complicated, textured style of hard rock that embraces flawless musicianship, lengthy enhance sections, daring arrangements and other flashy elements made beloved by Yes, Kansas, Rush and other old-school rockers. leading the progressive charge is the technically masterful Petrucci, whose playing encompasses angular melodic phrases, liquid chromatics and manic dispays of speed-picking into an exciting, coherent style.

Despite his reputation, the Ibanez-wielding shredder remains modest; "Being looked at as a guitar hero is very flattering, but being singled out away from the rest of the band doesn't motion to me," says Petrucci. "I'd prefer to have people view me as a talented musician in a good band-not as some flashy soloist." Not a chance.

17. B.B. King

As the universally hailed ambassador of the blues, B.B. King has introduced his beloved music to more people the world over than all other artists combined. In fact, he's so highly visible-popping up in any place from ads for Northwestern Airlines and McDonald's to lesson of "Sanford And Son" and "Married With Children"-that it's easy to take for granted and forget why he became so revered in the first place.

B.B. King has an incredibly expressive, vocal vibrato and an unmistakable, ringing tone, both of which have been imitated by legions of admirers. He is also the devotee of the perfectly settled bent note, stretching his strings with eloquence, great timing and consistently excellent intonation. But what is Perhaps most impressive about B.B. King is that despite hanging over 300 nights a year for decades, and despite having attained cultural icon status long ago, he has avoided slipping into complacency. He never plays the same solo twice and to this day stretches himself, demonstrating night after night exactly why he is the King Of The Blues.

18. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai -- Both rockers are equal careers and talent.

Starting with Joe Satriani, a walking storage of virtually every rock guitar style and technique ever developed. From delicate, classical-style finger-picking to the most profane vibrato-bar molestation, Joe knows it all. He elevates the level of whatever he's playing with his passion for sonic adventure and dead-eye sense of song and orchestration.

Like a human melting pot, Satriani has managed to concentrate such disparate influences as surf guitar, world beat and Jimi Hendrix into his playing. His much-lauded 1987 breakthrough album, Surfing With The Alien, practically single-handedly rehabilitated instrumental rock as a mainstream genre and help bury the myth that a thoughtful, educated player couldn't rock. In the manner of the Blow By Blow-era Jeff Beck. Satriani employs his superior technique and seemingly inexhaustible vocabulary of licks, riffs and styles in the service of memorable songs (rather than the other way around). And he continues to do this exhibitionism, traps that have foiled too many of his peers.

Steve Vai's unparalleled technique and facile flash made him rock's renowned pair of hired hands in the 1980's. He rendered Pil more accessible, empowered David Lee Roth, gave Whitesnake artistic credibility and even shredded for the Devil in a sensational performance in the film Crossroads.

But it was with 1990's Passion And Warfare-perhaps the most predicted guitar issue of all time-that Vai crystallized his technical skills, predicted drive and explosive foresight into a sensitive, acutely personal guitar statement. He shifts gears with the most of ease, gliding from delicate lyricism to the back. Like a demented circus master, Vai has the power to amuse and frighten with his most risky menagerie of sound.

19. Joe Perry

For 35 years, through not one or two, but several climbs to the top, Aerosmith's Joe Perry has been a living testimony to the power of a Bad-Ass Attitude. Perry's perpetual sneer is expressed not merely on his chiseled face, but also through his guitars and overdriven amps. Of course, he's also written some pretty decent riffs, the best of which wholly defines their song; it's impossible for even non-guitarists to think of "Walk This Way" or "Sweet Emotion" without humming Perry's etched-in-stone guitar lines.

20. Zakk Wylde

Zakk Wylde's hellacious guitar playing and charismatic stage presence made him a keeper of the heavy metal flame with Ozzy Osbourne for many years. But you ain't heard nothin' yet. Zakk stared a few bands of his own, Pride & Glory and his most recent, Black Label society (Bls), frenzied, high octane slab of guitar mayhem. It's a molten mix of Zakk's two selves: his heavy, energetic Ozzyfield side and the hell-bent Southern rocker and ruthless side. Step out of the way and make peace with yo' maker, son.

Ness Notes (May 17)

The Nba treated us to two thrilling finishes last night, as the Heat edged the Nets 106-105 and in double-overtime, the Suns outlasted the Clippers 125-118. The Heat win eliminates the Nets (4-1) and the win by the Suns gives them a 3-2 lead in their series with the Clippers (resumes Thursday night in La).

My free play for Wednesday is on the Min Twins over the Det Tigers at 7:05 Et. I got a gift from the "gambling gods" last night with the Suns, extending my playoff run to 5-1 83% since last Weds. Im 'firing' on Wednesday with an exclusive Legend Play (4-0 in this year's postseason) plus an additional one 15* Game 5 Showdown. My Mlb for Weds will be ready by 1:00 Et.

Santana

Both home teams won giving home teams a five-game winning streak since Sunday night's Suns/Clippers game. They are now 12-6 Su in the second round, going 8-10 Ats. Both games went 'over', as the high scoring prolonged in this year's postseason. The first round saw nine of its final 10 games go over the total and the second has seen 13 of the 18 games go over. Over bettors are now plus-15.4 games, cashing 78.6 percent of their 'tickets' over the last 28 playoff contests.

'Players' following the "Zig-Zag" law have had a prosperous run to-date in the second round, as playing 'on' the Su loser of the former game has them up 5.6 games with a 10-4 narrative (71.4 percent). However, this can turn quickly, as we saw in the first round. The "Zig Zag" law opened the first round at 19-8-2 Ats but fulfilled, the round on an 0-8 Ats run, barely showing a behalf (plus 1.4 games) for the effort.

In last night's Nj/Mia game, the Nets' trio of Carter, Jefferson and Kidd combined for 86 points (Carter and Jefferson both had 33) but it wasn't enough to lead the Nets past the Heat, who had six players score in double figures (Walker led the way with 23). Miami, after losing Game 1 100-88, won four right games. Teams that have fallen behind 3-1 in a seven-game series are now just 8-156 all-time. Are the Mavs and Spurs listening?

In Phoenix, the Suns blew a 19-point third quarter lead and Cassell sent the game into Ot with a three-pointer for the Clippers. It was then the Suns' Bell who nailed a three-pointer at the end of the first Ot period, before the Suns outscored the Clippers by seven points in the second Ot (for the cover!). Three Clippers played 50 minutes or more (Brand, Cassell and Mobley), while two Suns did (Bell and Marion).

Teams that win Game 5 of a seven-game series when tied at 2-all, have gone on to win 165 of 183 times in Nba playoff history. That's an .855 winning percentage. Breaking those numbers down supplementary reveals that teams that have won Game 5 at home are 118-10 (.922) while teams that won Game 5 on the road have gone 47-18 (.723). Are the Cavs and Pistons listening?

Wednesday's games

The Cavs and Pistons start things off tonight in Detroit at 7:05 Et on Tnt. The Mavs and Spurs will corollary from San Antonio at 9:35 Et. The Pistons are favored by 11 points with a total of 179, while the Spurs are favored by five points with a total of 191 1/2.

The Pistons couldn't score in the two losses at Cleveland, getting just 77 and 72 points while shooting 39.4 percent and 33.3 percent. Detroit was completely stifled in the second halves of both games, scoring 35 points and 34 points, while being outscored in the fourth quarter of Game 3 (33-21) and Game 4 (21-13). Will a return home make a difference? The Pistons have averaged 106.6 Ppg in five playoff home games, shooting 48 percent.

As for the Cavs, James has played all 48 minutes in each of the last three games of this series and neither Ilgauskas (7.0-6.5) nor Gooden (7.0-5.5) were much help in the two Cleveland wins. Hughes is likely to miss his third right game (maybe no big deal as he was shooting just 31 percent in the playoffs). Can Cleveland players like Marshall, Murray, Snow and Varejao play as well in Detroit as they did in Cleveland?

The Mavs have won three right games over the Spurs (averaged 113.3 Ppg) after losing Game 1, 87-85. Devin Harris has been a major reason, averaging 20.7 Ppg while shooting 58.3 percent in the three games (was inserted as a starter for Game 2). Nowitzki scored just 10 baskets in the two wins in Dallas but made 35-of-39 Fts, leading the way for the Mavs who have shot 125 Fts in the three wins, development 102 (.816).

The Spurs have been one of the league's best defensive teams for years (ranked second in Ppg allowed this year with an average of 88.8) but they haven't been able to stop the Mavs from being aggressive (leading to the high number of Ft attempts) nor have they been able to force turnovers (Dallas has just 32 in the three wins). As mentioned yesterday, San Antonio is 0-5 all-time when trailing this late in a series (since 1997).

Mlb notes

The Cleveland Indians ended the longest active losing streak in Mlb last night (had lost six straight), when Travis Hafner's two-run Hr capped a three-run ninth, giving the Indians a 6-4 win over the Royals. However, I'll have to check the lawful narrative book, as I'm not sure beating the Royals, who own Mlb's worst narrative at 10-26 (including a pathetic 2-18 mark on the road), as a matter of fact counts!

San Francisco beat the Astros in Houston last night 14-3, following up a 10-1 win in Houston on Monday. Despite his team scoring 24 runs in two days, Barry Bonds extended his homerless streak to 26 at-bats. Also worthy of note in this game was the fact that Jamey Wright got the win. Why the big deal? Wright entered the game 0-12 with an Era of 7.35 in 17 former appearances against the Astros. Last night he was staked to a 5-0 lead before taking the mound and pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs.

The Rangers jumped on the Yankees early last night, taking leads of 9-0 (2nd) and 10-1 (3rd). However, the Yanks won 14-13, matching the club's biggest comeback ever. It marked the fourth time in team history that the Yankees had won after trailing by nine runs. The last time they did it was against the Red Sox (6/26/87), when Roger Clemens was Boston's starting pitcher in that game! The two teams combined for 33 hits and 27 runs last night.

The Tigers own the longest active winning streak at five games (Tigers are also the league's best "moneymaker" at plus-70) and host the Twins tonight. The pitching matchup is worthy of note, as Johan Santana faces Detroit phenom, Justin Verlander. The Reds, who have lost four right (longest active losing streak) are in Pittsburgh, which owns the Nl's worst narrative at 12-27, as well as being Mlb's worst "moneyburners" (minus-68).

All 30 teams are again in operation tonight (15 games), with the season's first interleague games just two days away.

Ness Notes is ready by 1:00 Et Monday through Friday.

Witnessing 101, Bravely Reaching the Lost For Christ

Sharing the straightforward message of Christ in our world isn't often easy. We have to work at witnessing. Even so, it is potential to win others to Christ.

Going out on short-term mission trips is a splendid way to learn witnessing skills. It is normally easier to discover to strangers than to population in our workplace or family. Strangely, I am braver when I am on mission trips, possibly, because my focus is witnessing. The vigorous training received beforehand prepares those going out.

Anthology

For others, it isn't all the time potential to leave families, home, work and children to go on a short term mission trip. Often times the only mission field most see is the field in which God has settled them.

I've learned over time it takes a known exertion on my part to be an sufficient witness. Caught off guard on occasion, I've fumbled my way through a few witnessing opportunities. The idea here is at least to try. God will all the time bless our efforts.

Sharing Christ with population in our world doesn't have to be hard. All of us can discover for Christ, no matter where we are, but for a small help try these suggestions:

o Get to know co-workers. It is easier to discover if you know their background, beliefs and personalities. Don't be judgmental.

o Look for base interest. If an individual likes basketball, talk to them about your beloved team. Talk about your children, teenagers, grandparents or anything to help build on the relationship.

o Show you are interested in what they have to say. Ask questions. You can't expect population to listen to you if you aren't interested in what they have to say.

o Attend events and functions with co-workers and friends. This demonstrates your interests expand face the walls of the church. It is important for others to see you as a normal everyday person, not some churchy, preachy type person.

o Your actions, attitude and behavior in the workplace as well as at home can sway others. Be sure to think before acting or reacting. Others are watching. We must continuously guard our actions as well as determined pick our words.

o Integrate your faith into your world. In public, don't be afraid to bow your head, request the blessing over your food before eating. Gently let population know if their language offends you. Be encouraging and kind to everyone. Show respect to employees in restaurants and other aid jobs.

o Invite population to church. Don't harass them but if the occasion arises during conversations, don't be afraid to offer an invitation to attend a worship aid with you. Volunteer to pick them up on your way.

o Handle difficulties in a Christ like manner. Perfection is not startling nor required. Even Christians face difficult times. The manner in which you rejoinder to the complexities of your world, speaks more than any words you have to say.

o The key to influencing others for Christ is prayer. You should lift the names of the lost in your world up to Christ. Recruit fellow Christians to help you pray.

o Always, always, allow the Holy Spirit to guide your every word. Allow Him to work. Don't try to push population into production a decision.

o When possible, have a fellow Christian pray silently and inconspicuously while you are witnessing.

o Have verses in your Bible already highlighted in advance. It's easy to become frazzled and forgetful when witnessing. Thumbing through the Bible looking for that singular verse becomes a distraction. Be prepared.

Some of us may go a lifetime without witnessing to the lost nearby us. It is a shame for us not to try. Remember Christ opened the door to salvation for you when you were not part of the traditional family of God.

"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." Ephesians 2:13 (Nkjv)

Life for Christians has but one goal: accomplish God's Mission. According to Acts 1:8, our mission is to be His witnesses. Witnessing won't all the time be easy and many times will be unpopular. However, we have to overcome our fears because the lives of the lost in our world lie in our hands.

**Resources I found helpful are studies such as Share Jesus Without Fear written by William Fay, The Net which can be downloaded from the namb.net and Ray comfort and Kirk Cameron's wayofthemaster.com web site which has some splendid witnessing tools and products.

Live at Fillmore 1968

Live at Fillmore 1968 Review

Live at Fillmore 1968 Overview

Had this 2 CD set, recorded just prior to the band's Columbia debut in 1968, been released in the mid-'70s, it would have been a multi-platinum certainty. Today it's an object lesson in how time can turn white-hot acts into stone cold catalog filler. Pretty cool version of "Soul Sacrifice," though. --Jeff Bateman

Birthday Poems To Irritate Men

Over the years I seem to have amused and delighted many friends and colleagues by composing funny poems and writing them in their birthday cards. I have now decided to issue my anthology of wit, humour and downright rudeness for the world to enjoy!

These rhymes have proven to be particularly popular with women - demonstrating how cruel and heartless the 'gentler' sex can be to the men in their lives. They can be copied into birthday cards, Father's Day cards, Christmas cards, or naturally cut and pasted onto an email ... In fact they can be used anytime man you know needs cheering up - or bringing down a peg or two!

Anthology

Many of the poems rely heavily on the shortcomings of we poor men; ie, drunkenness, uncontrolled flatulence, lecherousness, good old fashioned plain laziness, inability to master Diy, thinning hair, suspiciously thickening midriff etc, etc. Characteristics which I'm sure apply to some extent to all husbands, boyfriends and sons.

You will see that each poem contains a man's first name, but not as part of the rhyme. In other words, you can positively 'personalise' the rhyme by replacing the name with the name of the man you would like to send it to. (This works best if the names have the same whole of syllables. For example, 'Bob' can be changed to John, Dave, Mick, Paul etc; 'Andy' can be changed to Simon, Roger, Alan etc).

For whatever suspect you settle to send one, the poor unsuspecting fellow will receive a very amusing rhyme poking fun at some of his - shall we say - less romantic characteristics. A inherent side effect is that he may also be impressed at your wit, humour and resourcefulness - but please don't expect him to admit to that. Here they are;

*

Ian doesn't much like it,

When you tell him he's losing his hair;

And he gets just a microscopic bit grumpy,

When you point out his tyre is spare.

So be sensitive now it's his birthday,

And remember, the man's not bionic;

Sit him down in his chair, don't mention the hair

And pour him a large Gin and Tonic.

*

John likes booze and John likes women, He doesn't like running and he doesn't like swimming; He likes sitting down and he likes eating grub, He doesn't like work but he does like the pub.

Being John's Missus is a pain in the neck, When he dresses up smart, he still looks a wreck! He thinks posh restaurants and theatres are above him, But I suppose all these things are just reasons I love him!

*

There once was a young man called Laurence,

Who when urinating did so in torrents,

When asked, "Was it Venice

That inspired this menace?"

He replied, "No, I learnt it in Florence".

*

Matthew wants presents for his birthday, Matthew wants jewellery and cars, Matthew wants to go out to restaurants, And meet gorgeous women in bars.

Well I've got a present for Matthew, For this playboy who thinks he's so cool, It's what he got me for my birthday, Coincidentally that's B*Gger All!

*

Nigel is a gentleman, It isn't just a pose;

His shoes are always polished, And he never picks his nose.

He opens doors for ladies, And offers them his seat;

His nails are never dirty, And his hair is always neat.

But when it's Nigel's birthday, He loses all his class;

He has an awful lot to drink, And ends up on his a*se!

*

Peter when I look at you, I remember when you were twenty-two,

Your hair was thick, your wrinkles few, And you didn't spend so long in the loo!

*

Robert, on your birthday, I want you to relax;

Sit down and put your feet up, And I'll bring you drinks and snacks.

I'll do all the household chores, And put your clothes away;

In fact it won't be much different, To every other day!

*

Vince, Vince, what can the matter be, You're turning into Les Battersby,

It's your birthday on Saturday, So for crying out loud mate Cheer Up!

*

Alan you know I love you, You're positively very sweet;

In fact I'd call you excellent If it wasn't for your feet!

*

Brian has a problem, He's older than before,

And now that it's his birthday, He feels a microscopic sore.

But Brian shouldn't worry, Or mooch nearby the house,

Because what he lacks in youthfulness, He makes up for with nouse!

*

Charlie likes to have a drink, And he's often in a hurry;

But keep your distance in the morning, If he's been out for a curry!

*

David, Happy Birthday Love, I've kept you dressed and fed;

Now I ask just one thing of you - Please stop farting in bed!

*

Frank, your birthday's here again, So it's a good time just to sit

And wonder why for the rest of the year, You're such a miserable git!!

*

Eddie, now you're getting old, And your hair is going grey;

I have some words to say to you, On this your special day.

You're generous, wise, good-looking, kind, And all your jokes are funny;

But the greatest thing about you Dear, Is all your lovely money!

*

Gary always gets drunk on his birthday, Once he's started, he just cannot stop;

So he ordinarily gets slung out the boozer, And comes home with sick down his top!

*

Harry's the excellent husband, For 364 days of the year,

But he does go astray on his birthday, By trying to drown in beer!

*

Tony's very good at doing jobs nearby the house,

When it comes to Diy you couldn't find a good spouse;

So I belief that for his birthday I would get him something good,

To help him with the patio or bevelling of wood.

Should it be a power drill, or something else by Bosch?

A Black and Decker sander or a Karcher power wash?

But in the end I thought, you shouldn't fix what isn't broken,

So I did the same as last year - bought a ten pound article token!

*

There once was a fella called Kevin,

For whom being in a pub was just heaven,

When offered a drink,

He didn't have to think,

He would say, "Not just one, I'll have seven"!

*

Today is Dennis's birthday, And he'll probably go out to play,

I remember last year he knocked back so much beer, He ended up on Crimewatch Uk!

*

Simon likes to go out with his mates, Simon likes to take girls out on dates,

He likes fish and chips and he likes Man United, And Keira Knightley gets him positively excited.

He'll go out on his birthday and paint the town red,

He'll drink the bar dry then take cod and chips to bed,

He'll lie there wishing that Manchester was nearer,

Then he'll drop off to sleep and dream about Keira.

*

Andy don't want no presents for his birthday, Andy don't want special grub;

Andy don't want no cards and kisses, He just wants to go to the pub!

*

Barry is a nuisance on his birthday to be honest, All the usual types of gifts he doesn't like at all;

If you haven't spent a fortune he'll thinks your present's modest, So this year I've decided that he's getting B*Gger All!

*

Elliot quite likes to party On his birthday, with friends far and wide;

But curiously the next morning, He just wants to curl up and hide!

*

Happy birthday Timothy, Go out and have some fun;

Keep up your reputation as A Lazy Drunken Bum!

*

There once was a young man called Chris,

Who was enduringly out on the p*ss,

When his birthday came round,

He just stayed in his lounge,

And drank cocoa all night - oh what bliss!

Greatest Hits

Greatest Hits Review

Greatest Hits Overview

If you only want the essentials, this is the package to get. Greatest Hits is an early collection, dating back to 1974, and it does a good job of skimming the cream from the band's classic 1969-71 period, which yielded the first three albums, Santana, Abraxas, and Santana III. It also avoids the great, sprawling mass of ephemera and second-line material that pads Santana's later catalog: The peaks after '71 are far more thinly spread--and are seldom as lofty. On the other hand, if you're an enthusiast, you might want to take a step up to the grander Best of Santana or Viva Santana collections, each of which covers more ground. --Gavin McNett

Shaman

Shaman Review

Shaman Overview

SANTANA Shaman (2002 UK 16-track CD album - Carlos Santanas revival continues with a similar themed [but equally strong] album as his last the multi-Grammy winning Supernatural. This time co-horts include Dido Seal Macy Gray Chad KroegerandMichelle Branch picture sleeve)

Shaman Specifications

Shaman starts with a problem--how do you follow the massive comeback, "make you a star again" success of his previous album Supernatural? Wyclef's no longer producing to bump things up and Santana's getting no younger. So what does he do? Pull in as many guest artists as possible. He has to; he's not a vocalist, and there's only so many guitar solos anyone can take. Shaman features, wait for it, Dido, Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, P.O.D., Macy Gray, Citizen Cope, Placido Domingo, Alejandro Lerner, Musiq, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Ozomatli, Seal, Michael Shrieve, and producers KC Porter and Kike Santander. Were the Neptunes busy? They're the only people missing.

Despite all these "stars", the instrumental "Victory Is One" is a standout track, blazing together Santana's age-old fusion of latin rock. Lead single "The Game of Love" sung by 19-year-old Michelle Branch is sugary 60s pop and shows a lack of consistency throughout the album. In truth it sounds like a record produced by a focus group. Each track targets a demographic with Santana playing the role of brand not band. Only Ozomatli and Macy Gray get Santana, themselves products of an alternative music upbringing. The rest of the artists such as Seal, Dido and Musiq (nee Musiq Soulchild) seem to have turned up for the pay-day. Santana doesn't play with any less conviction but many of his guests are here for the beer. That said his cover of Angelique Kidjo's "Adouma" is storming and on so called "world-music" territory ("Foo Foo", "Aye, Aye") Santana stands strong. However, you can only blame Santana and the focus group all stars for a ready meal album. If he'd concentrated a little more on who he is, not who he believes people would like him to be, this could have been a great album. --Jake Barnes

The Best of Santana (Eco-Friendly Packaging)

The Best of Santana (Eco-Friendly Packaging) Review

The Best of Santana (Eco-Friendly Packaging) Overview

Slide-pack edition of this release, a no-frills CD packaging featuring an outer slipcase with the original cover artwork and an inner 'slider' including a CD. There is no CD booklet in this package. The Best of Santana features 16 tracks from Carlos and the boys' most successful and prolific period up through the '70s. Features 'Jingo', 'Evil Ways', 'Black Magic Woman' and many more. Sony/BMG. 2007.

The Best of Santana (Eco-Friendly Packaging) Specifications

There are a couple of Santana best-of compilations out there, and even a few mastersound gold-plated CDs, but this collection is as good a place as any for a newcomer to explore. It contains the band's three essential charters--"Black Magic Woman," "Evil Ways," and "Oye Como Va"--along with some lesser hits. Santana broke barriers, making ethnic-influenced music palatable to the mainstream, but this set doesn't sound like a history lesson. Few bands have ever made better music for driving on a hot summer day, and this CD is ideal for blasting out the windows of your car on a crowded thoroughfare. --Charles R. Cross

Glee-Cap - "I Kissed A Girl"

Glee-Cap - "I Kissed A Girl" Video Clips. Duration : 2.15 Mins.

on.fb.me - Facebook Fan Page! bit.ly - Click to Subscribe to ClevverMusic! Hey Gleeks! You're watching ClevverMusic. I'm Bridget Daly with your Glee-Cap from episode 7, I Kissed A Girl. The episode began with Santana THIS close to getting suspended for slapping Finn, when he surprisingly jumps in and saves her. But his motive is to get the Trouble Tones members to come back to New Directions. The class presidential race is coming to a close, and Kurt is tempted to cheat and fix the votes because he needs to win in order to get into Nyada. The other race going on is the Congressional race, and Sue will do anything to win—including stealing Coach Beiste's man Kooter. She finds them on a date together and is devastated. Meanwhile, the New Directions try to help Santana with her coming out process through song, and then Puck jumps in but directs his whole serenade to Shelby, whom he's clearly still obsessing on. And Quinn notices. But Shelby turns Puck down yet again. By this time, the congressional commercial outing Santana airs, and the whole school finds out and she starts to get taunted. But Rachel, Britney and the girls have her back and sing I Kissed A Girl, and Santana decides it's time to tell her beloved grandmother. It doesn't go well, and she is ordered to leave the house, but finds solace in her Glee friends who support her. The results come in for the presidential race, and they find someone has fixed the vote, and blame Kurt. Rachel finally comes forward and ...
